The German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) is the result of a joint G-to-G effort between the Governments of Malaysia and Germany to promote the transfer of technology through technical education and training. The GMI qualify highly skilled
manpower for industry through her Industrial Diploma programs in the advanced and modern fields of Production Technology and Industrial Electronics. Short-courses are promoted similarly to update and upgrade employees in industries on the technical knowledge and skills necessary.
With more than RM32 million invested on hi-tech, "state-of- the-art" training equipments and facilities, the institute is one of its kind in South East Asia that provides a conducive and excellent environment for practice oriented learning.
Poised to offer the highest standards in technological know-how, the programs offered are intensive with hands-on practical and theory, all combined to make each program action-packed and result-oriented to fully prepare GMI graduates for a challenging career in industry.
The Technical Training Officers (trainers) consist of experienced GMI staffs who have undergone training in pedagogy, andragogy and specialized educational practices. In line with our philosophy of life-long learning, our trainers regularly attend training courses to keep abreast with the latest training methods.
The GMI undertakes industrial projects from industrial customers as means to realize the concepts of a learning factory. Some of the example of industrial projects undertaken by the institute involved the design and fabrication of moulds and dies, prototype machines, automated systems and machinery.
