Selangor International Islamic University College (KUIS) is located in Bandar Seri Putra, Bangi within the district of Hulu Langat, Selangor. It is 45 km south of Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. This 104-acre campus area is situated near a systematic network of the North-South Highway and currently can accommodate approximately 3,500 students.
Selangor International Islamic University College (KUIS), formerly known as Selangor Darul Ehsan Islamic College (KISDAR), was established in 1995. It came into existence with the mission to enhance the Islamic higher learning education in Selangor Darul Ehsan and also to serve as the continuation of the educational system that was introduced by the Selangor Islamic Affairs Department (JAIS).
KUIS began its operation at a temporary building previously occupied by Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Secondary Religious School (SAMTAJ) in Shah Alam by offering diploma programmes in Islamic studies with specialisations in Dakwah, Syariah and Al-Quran and Al-Sunnah.
As the board of directors is chaired by the YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Mohamad Khir bin Toyo himself, the Selangor state government vows to give its commitment and strong support to KUIS’ agenda of educational development.
In June 2000, the whole KUIS establishment was transferred to its permanent campus in Bandar Seri Putra, Bangi. The official opening of the main campus was graced by His Majesty Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, the Sultan of Selangor Darul Ehsan on May 25, 2005.
On December 31, 2004, after almost 10 years of operation, another historical moment was recorded when KUIS was awarded the status of university college by the Ministry of Higher Education. This has given the opportunity for KUIS to embark on degree programmes.
Parallel to the demands of the current job market and the expansion of knowledge in science and technology, KUIS also offers courses at diploma level that stress on the principles and philosophy of the integration of knowledge. The courses offered include various disciplines in Islamic studies as well as modern knowledge such as Accountancy, Banking, IT & Multimedia, Human Resource Management, Communication, Economics and Nursing.
Guided by the motto “The Catalyst of Knowledge Tradition”, KUIS is determined to continually move forward in building an excellent and venerable civilisation for the ummah. Besides that, KUIS will remain strong to safeguard its mission and philosophy in developing the intellect and the creative ability of its graduates.
Another special feature of the location of this college is that it is not far from Putrajaya, the centre of administration for the federal government of Malaysia, and also within the vicinity of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) as well as Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Sepang.
Apart from the strategic location of its campus at Bandar Seri Putra in Bangi, KUIS’ attraction lies in the lush green environment that surrounds the campus area that creates a serene and relaxing atmosphere conducive for the learning process. In addition, there are many interesting places that can be visited with easy accessibility.
Bangi commuter station is located in Bangi Lama, about 2 km from KUIS campus with commuter services within every 15 minutes from Bangi to KL and vice-versa. For the convenience of the students, KUIS provides van and bus services to shuttle students from the campus to the commuter station. The commuter train also stops at the Bandar Tasik Selatan transit terminal for the LRT (Light Rail Transit) or ERL (Express Rail Transit) interchange. The LRT system provides efficient connections within the Klang Valley and Kuala Lumpur as well as provides fast transportation to the KLIA airport. Conventional public transportation such as buses and cabs are also convenient ways to explore the city of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
